About Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC)
MSSC is a special one-time deposit scheme exclusively for women and girls, introduced by the Government of India in Union Budget 2023. It offers a fixed high interest rate for a short 2-year tenure, making it an attractive short-term savings option.

Interest Calculation Formula
MSSC uses Compound Interest compounded quarterly:
A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t)
Where: P = Principal, r = 0.075, n = 4 (quarterly), t = 2 years

Key Features
- Partial Withdrawal: Up to 40% of eligible balance can be withdrawn after 1 year.
- Premature Closure: Allowed after 6 months on medical grounds or death; after 1 year at a penalty (reduced rate).
- Multiple Accounts: A woman can open multiple accounts, subject to the ₹2 lakh cap per account and overall limit.
- No TDS: Interest is credited quarterly; no TDS if interest < ₹40,000/year.
- Where to Open: Any Post Office or authorised bank branch.
